The ideal candidate for the HR Generalist position is someone who has good interpersonal skills. This person should also be someone who is friendly and outgoing to employees, applicants and students who attend job fairs. This person must be able to prioritize which tasks take priority over others. The HR Generalist is the first point of contact for our new employees and must present professionally at all times and have a strong commitment to customer service. Accurate, carefully done work is needed to ensure that we are in compliance with all employment laws. This position also assists supervisors in the recruitment process and screens applicants to assist supervisors in filling their open positions. Maintaining confidentiality is expected in this position.
Job Function:
Responsible for recruitment, testing, and referring applicants for all open positions throughout the Agency. This position must possess a good knowledge of all functions in the agency, a basic understanding of the agency's organizational structure as well as an extensive knowledge of personnel policy and procedure and federal and state laws regarding employment practices. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to agency needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience: -Bachelor's degree required-At least two (2) years of related experience and HR certification is preferred
Skill Requirements: -Considerable skill in interviewing techniques-A good knowledge of all positions and specialized functions in the Agency-A basic understanding of the Agency’s organizational structure as well as an extensive knowledge of personnel policy and procedure and federal and state laws regarding employment practices-High level skills in oral and written communications, organization, and office systems-Ability to effectively utilize computer system-Ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner
Physical Requirements: -Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information both face-to-face and over the telephone-Physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job related issues and stress-Ability to utilize computer technology on a routine basis-Ability to transport self to various agency, community, and school locations-Ability to lift supplies and access materials in file cabinets
