Good Beginnings is looking to hire a Family Support Worker!! The Family Support Worker/Group Facilitator generally works with first time at risk participants who live in Peoria or Tazewell Counties. The worker is expected to provide services in a variety of home settings with a flexible schedule that will meet the varied needs of the participant. The FSW encourages healthy development of the baby and assists the new mother in developing knowledge and skills needed to nurture and protect her child from neglect and abuse. Evenings and occasional weekend work is required. Model specific training requires overnight travel. The FSW utilizes their own vehicle to get to home visits and other program activities so reliable transportation is a must. Job Function: Provide comprehensive home visiting and parent education to first time, at-risk pregnant women. Have strong knowledge of community resources to provide linkage and support to program participants and their families. Plan and facilitate parenting group sessions for participants in the Pregnant and Parenting Services program Job Qualifications: - GED or High School diploma minimum. - Associates in Child Development or Human Services preferred. - Experience in working with at-risk families, young children a plus. - Group facilitation experience is preferred. - Knowledge of normal child growth/development and parent-child relationships. - Ability to relate to families from a strength-based model - Strong interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently and as an active team member - Demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in children and family services - Ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic and confidential manner - Effective written and oral communication skills. - Hearing and speaking ability to allow for effective oral communication of information - Physical and emotional stamina to handle job related issues - Ability to transport self and clients to various locations
